With such a large influence on the digital distribution of music, is album artwork as important as it used to be? I like to think so. Have you ever been walking through a record store when an awesome album cover catches your eye, and you think "I wonder what that sounds like?" Maybe that type of scenario doesn't happen as often anymore, with record stores closing left and right. Still, good artwork can set the tone of an entire record, and can persuade people to buy an album not even knowing if they will like the music.
Artwork can go a long way to attract people to a certain musical artist. Just as it is important to present yourself in a professional manner, the way products are presented can help or hurt the way people view them. Simply slapping a photo of the band on the cover is extremely unoriginal, no matter how professional it looks. It definitely stands out when musicians and bands decide to go the extra mile and actually put some thought behind their album artwork.
